About the project

SmolPC 2.0

SmolPC 2.0 is a unified offline AI assistant platform for education, designed to run locally, protect user privacy, and support real classroom workflows across writing, coding, image editing, and 3D design.

This phase picks up from the earlier 1.5 work and follows the move toward one shared app with dedicated modes for Code, LibreOffice, GIMP, and Blender. The updates here span 20 October 2025 to 26 March 2026.

What the platform brings together

  • Code support for explaining, debugging, and guiding programming tasks.
  • LibreOffice workflows for writing, documents, and presentations.
  • GIMP assistance for image-editing tasks through natural language.
  • Blender support for scene-aware 3D workflows inside the same broader product.

Design priorities

  • Offline-first use with private local processing.
  • Hardware-aware runtime selection and local model orchestration.
  • Simple Windows deployment for real classroom environments.
  • Voice input and spoken responses to improve accessibility.

One shared platform

The direction of the project is one unified shell with a shared engine underneath, so the different assistant modes feel like parts of the same product rather than separate tools.

Built for practical use

SmolPC 2.0 is aimed at real school and lab environments, where privacy, local deployment, and reliable performance matter more than cloud dependency or complex setup.

Development window

These updates cover the active delivery period from 20 October 2025 to 26 March 2026, following the rebuild from early architecture through integration, polish, and final consolidation.
