Early reset
The first stretch centers on rebuilding around a new architecture, carrying forward the LibreOffice MCP roots while clearing space for the next phase of the product.
SmolPC 2.0 is a unified offline AI assistant platform for education, designed to run locally, protect user privacy, and support classroom workflows across writing, coding, image editing, and 3D design. These entries follow the rebuild from late October 2025 through March 2026 as the shared app, LibreOffice path, and the Blender and GIMP modes came together.
20 October 2025 to 26 March 2026
The first stretch centers on rebuilding around a new architecture, carrying forward the LibreOffice MCP roots while clearing space for the next phase of the product.
Through November and beyond, the main app picked up streaming chat, interface work, hardware and benchmark features, and the first signs of the broader unified direction.
Blender, GIMP, and LibreOffice work each gained momentum of their own before more of that work began folding back toward one shared SmolPC 2.0 direction.
Twelve short entries covering each two-week stretch, newest first.
A focused burst on the main app — a standalone TTS service, structural cleanup, and consolidating everything under the SmolPC 2.0 name.
Blender gets folded into the shared app, assistant modes land, and GIMP helper fixes its remaining broken tools.
All four repos active at once for the first time — the shared engine gets a proper host/client split while GIMP helper lands real drawing tools.
The main app ships a workbench revamp with a neutral-first design pass, LibreOffice fixes its MCP connection issues, and Blender helper gets an architecture rework.
The main app bundles ONNX Runtime for cross-platform use, while GIMP helper gains macros and fast paths and LibreOffice integration moves forward.
No commits landed this fortnight — a natural pause between stretches of active work.
LibreOffice integration gets brought up on Tauri 2.0 with Ollama and MCP, while the main app connects to its frontend and refines KV cache benchmarking.
A quieter stretch focused on two things: pushing the KV cache implementation forward in the main app, and giving the GIMP helper a usable frontend.
GIMP helper gets its first MCP integration in Rust, Blender helper iterates on model selection, and the main app tightens its system prompt.
GIMP helper gets its first scaffold, Blender helper works through LLM runtime bugs, and the main app lays foundations for the unified build.
The main app got its Svelte 5 migration and first working Ollama chat, while Blender helper and the core platform started taking shape alongside it.
The first steps toward SmolPC 2.0 — pulling the original LibreOffice MCP work into a fresh structure and mapping out the architecture ahead.
